Flying JSX with a Dog

by Bella Woof

There have been limited options for flying with a medium or large dog for years. Owners of big dogs had to risk transporting their pups in the belly of the aircraft like luggage. JSX Airlines is shaking things up by allowing passengers to bring larger, leashed dogs in the cabin. Interested in flying JSX with a dog? Here’s what you need to know:

What Is JSX?

JSX (formerly Jet SuiteX) is an independent airline flying to destinations in California, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Florida, & New York. The airline is a “hop-on jet service,” passing through private terminals. Using small jets allows JSX to operate with fewer lines and restrictions. For example, the airline only requires you to check in 20 minutes before your flight! JSX also has unique policies for flying with dogs.

How To Fly On JSX With A Dog

One of the best things about flying JSX with a dog is their policy regarding larger pups. Dogs up to 79 pounds can fly in-cabin on a leash. All you have to do is buy an extra seat at the published fare. Their rates are very reasonable, despite offering the luxury of business-class seating and a generous luggage allowance. When Louie and I flew from Las Vegas to Berkley, California, the total cost was about $200.

If you wish to fly on JSX with a leashed dog, you must book by phone at (800) 435-9579. The airline limits the total number of dogs onboard to 5 per flight. Passengers with small dogs in a carrier can book online. As of July 10, 2023, there is a pet fee of $100, and the carrier is considered your “personal item.” For more information on the current JSX pet policy, please click HERE.

New JSX Routes & Pet Perks

Flying JSX with a dog just keeps getting easier! The airline has recently added routes from Westchester, New York, to Miami, Nashville, & Dallas. By piecing together several flights, It is now possible for dogs to fly across the country without ever seeing the inside of a carrier. They are also adding pet relief stations to most terminals and dog treats in the departure lounge.
