And while these puppies have certainly raised the bar for cuteness, it's time for pet owners in Hoboken and Jersey City to put an end to the New Jersey vs. New York debate. Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest + Parade
After the success of last year's event, the Hoboken Community Center will host its second annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest + Parade. On Saturday, October 28th, costumed puppies will be running through the streets of Hoboken, starting at 2pm at Church Square Park. Furry friends must be registered to walk and the fee is $15 per dog or $20 per dog at the door. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Hoboken Community Center, a nonprofit organization that provides essential services and space to support the well-being of the Hoboken community. Guests can expect top-notch dog costumes, live music and 21 local vendors. There are nine costume categories to enter. One of Jersey City's most popular Halloween celebrations is the annual Day of the Dead celebration at Riverview Fisk Park, which will continue in 2023 on Sunday, October 29th. The event features traditional live music and dance, a giant puppet parade by local Mexican-American artist Santiago Cohen (which I highly recommend if you haven't read it yet), and sponsored by the Riverview Neighborhood Association The highlight is the pet costume contest.
The costume contest begins at 1 p.m., and you can register for $5 that day between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A complete schedule of events can be found here.
