Halloween season brings with it scary screenings, spooky parties, and haunted attractions. But what about our four-legged residents? We've put together a list of local events you can enjoy with your dog this fall. (Spoiler: You're probably familiar with the term “Howl-o-Ween.”)

1. Creepy Dog Howl-O-Ween Celebration

Hillwood Estate | October 21st

The best dog in this dog costume contest held in the gardens of Hillwood Estate will win a human family membership at Hillwood. Sip a Spooky Pooch cocktail, grab some dog treats, and explore the expansive grounds, including a canine memorial cemetery. The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., and tickets are available for purchase from $5 to $13.

2. Fairmont Georgetown's 12th Annual Howl-O-Ween

Fairmont Washington DC, Georgetown | October 26th

Spoil your dog at Fairmont Georgetown's annual Howl-O-Ween event. Dogs are welcomed with a doggie dinner, puptails and peanut butter biscuits by the hotel's pastry team. Dogs dressed up in costume can compete for prizes such as lodging and dinner. Human attendees at this free event will be able to enjoy themed cocktails and interact with several adorable dogs, including Fairmont Canine Ambassador Georgie, a yellow lab. The festivities begin at 6 p.m.

3. Howl-O-Ween Festival

Bark Social Bethesda | October 27th

Find drag queens, dancing, and dressed up dogs at this Halloween party. Dogs and humans can participate in costume contests and dance to live DJ sets. The event will be held on Bark Social's covered patio from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Tickets start at $20 for humans, and all dogs participating must be registered with Bark Social and hold a membership or day pass.

4. Howl-O-Ween Canine Costume Garden Soiree

Commentary Social House | October 29th

Dogs are the star of the day in a costume contest at Arlington's Commentary Social House. Dogs can dress up in their best outfits, eat dog food, and have their portraits taken on the Social House's new patio. The event will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Admission is free, but there is a charge for puppy portraits.

5. Howlween: Halloween Dog Happy Hour

Wonder Garten | October 29th

Wonder Garten will host a dog-friendly Halloween happy hour with a costume contest, raffle, drinks, treats and more. This spooky affair will take place from 12pm to 3pm and is part of Wonder Garten's “13 Nights of Halloween'' program.

6. Old Town Doggy Trick or Treat

Old Town Alexandria | October 29th

From 1 to 5 p.m., watch as our wonderfully dressed furry friends take over the streets and trick-or-treat in the Old Town shopping district. Participating pups can pick up their bags of goodies and make maps at the pet supply store dog park before heading off in search of free treats.
